In today’s ever-evolving job market, few sectors are as essential—or as stretched—as health and social care. With a growing population, increasing demand for services, and an ageing workforce, the NHS is facing a critical challenge: how to attract, train, and retain the talent needed to deliver compassionate, high-quality care.
But how do we ignite that spark of interest in young people early on, showing them the breadth of opportunity and the meaningful impact they can make? One answer lies in immersive, large-scale events that bring the world of healthcare directly to them.
NHS Health and Care at Work: A Day of Discovery
On 19th June 2025, over 400 young people from across Forth Valley came together for an inspiring NHS Health and Care at Work event. Designed to open minds and raise aspirations, the event offered a unique opportunity for pupils to explore the vast and varied careers within the health and social care sector.
Hosted in partnership with NHS Forth Valley, the day featured hands-on workshops, live demonstrations, and interactive stands representing key departments—including Mental Health, Emergency Services, and Allied Health Professions. Young people engaged directly with local healthcare professionals, gaining real insight into the roles, responsibilities, and values that underpin the sector.
This wasn’t just a careers fair—it was a powerful experience that helped demystify what working in health and care looks like, while highlighting the human skills, dedication, and teamwork that are vital to success.
