Braes High School Careers and Course Choice Event

Braes High School is inviting employers and organisations from a wide range of sectors to take part in its Careers and Course Choice Event, helping pupils explore different jobs, career pathways and course choices.

The informal event gives young people the opportunity to speak directly with professionals about their careers, hear how they got into their roles and learn more about the skills, subjects and qualifications that can support different pathways. A quieter session will run from 6:00pm–6:30pm, with the main event open to pupils and families from 6:30pm–8:00pm.

Here are some examples of the kind of questions pupils would like to know:

• What does a typical day look like in your job?
• Where are you usually based, and what is your working setup like?
• What are your typical working hours, do you work shifts or set schedules?
• How did you get into this role?
• What subjects, qualifications or skills do you need?
• What are the best benefits, perks or rewards of doing your job?

Interested in taking part? Employers will be asked to provide:

• Name(s) of attendee(s)
• Job title
• Company name
• Industry
• Specific roles available within your company/industry
• School subject(s) best associated with your industry
• Contact email

This information will help the school organise the evening and group similar jobs together.
