Pathways In Argyll Education

Pathways In Argyll

Pathways in Argyll is an interactive session for S2 students designed to raise awareness of the wide range of employment opportunities available across Argyll and Bute. The programme seeks to challenge common misconceptions that career prospects within the area are limited, while inspiring young people to consider the diverse pathways available to them locally. By highlighting opportunities for those who may wish to live and work in Argyll and Bute in the future, the programme also supports the long-term population retention ambitions set out in the Argyll and Bute Economic Strategy 2024-2034.

The sessions encourage young people to think about the future of work and the skills that will be in demand in a rapidly changing job market. Students will explore a variety of local career opportunities, including emerging sectors and green jobs, and gain an understanding of the diverse range of employers operating within their communities. The programme will also introduce alternative career pathways, such as self-employment and remote working.

What's included

Local employers will participate in the sessions, providing students with valuable insights into different industries and creating positive engagement between young people and businesses. As part of the session, students will use digital devices to research a local career or employment opportunity that they were previously unaware of and share their findings with their peers. This interactive approach is designed to build awareness, broaden aspirations, and help students connect local opportunities with their future career ambitions.
